Originating from a bold experiment by MGP in December 2015, this rye whiskey began its journey in twelve barrels of an undisclosed cooperage, filled with a high rye content of 95/5. Despite challenges including significant leakage, the project took an extraordinary turn when the remaining whiskey was rescued, vatted, and rebarreled into five select Zac Cooperage #4 Char barrels in 2019.

A Unique Journey of Maturation:

This whiskey reached its peak after 8.5 years, achieving a remarkable transformation during its double oaking process. Bottled at cask strength (104 proof), "Dark Star" is not only potent but also intensely flavorful, with only 1,050 bottles produced from the five surviving barrels. This scarcity and the unique history of its production make each bottle a coveted item for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
